Circle of Friends of the Botanical Garden of the Heinrich Heine University of Düsseldorf, founded in 1984

'Freundeskreis Botanischer Garten der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf e.V.'

The Circle of Friends of the Botanical Garden of the Heinrich Heine University of Düsseldorf was founded as a charitable association in 1984. It supports the various functions of the botanical garden financially and practically while helping to further its role in the city and region. Currently, completing the Alpinum and the children’s university are its main priorities.

Our association has around 190 members, many of whom volunteer at plant fairs or campaign days or take guard duties at the botanical garden after hours and on weekends. Of course, we also welcome members who are 'only' willing or able to support the association financially.

Our blog, duesselbotanica, tells of the joy of discovering new, interesting corners of our botanical garden.

We raise public awareness of environmental protection and biodiversity conservation through educational work and publicity.

All our events are free of charge. All interested guests are cordially invited to discover the biodiversity of plants during a walk or at one of our events.

In recognition of these and many other activities, the city of Düsseldorf honoured the circle of friends with its environmental award in 2012.

Do you have any suggestions or questions? Get in touch with us. We will get back to you as soon as we can.
