Teaching and research

The facilities of the Botanical Garden are mainly available for the research and teaching activities of the university’s biology and pharmaceutical institutes. In accordance with their requirements, plants are grown in the greenhouses and outdoors for research, although “gardening expertise” is often also called for. In addition, a variety of ecological and sociological studies are performed in the outdoor garden.

For the lectures of the various institutes, plant material is regularly made available. This is either grown specifically or collected by staff in the outdoor garden or the immediate surroundings of the Botanical Garden.
